Today, we have one of Ellora’s Cave hot new Erotic Romance writers Shiloh Walker. She is HOT!!, exciting and very stimulating. The first book I have read from Ms. Walker was stimulating to say the least and I have found all her books to be well written and witty. Shiloh has a great sense of humor, some might say (including Ms. Walker) a smart-ass sense of humor, but there are other facets to her personality. She is a mother, wife and a health care professional. She is warm, loving and funny.

As we review 2 of her new books we also get to find out a little about the author herself. Who is Shiloh Walker? What is she really like? Where does she get her ideas? Is she just the woman who writes her books or is she so much more? These are some of the questions that are on our readers mind, and hopefully today we can answer some of them.

Thank you for joining us today Shiloh, can you tell the readers a little about yourself. What is a typical day in the life of Shiloh Walker? Do you get up drag the little ones out of bed, slap the hubby on the butt and tell him to get out of bed or is it a Ward and June Cleaver fantasy?

Weekends, I sleep in when I can, but sleeping in to me, is seven. My body doesn’t let me sleep past that much anymore. And the little ones usually wake me up. The hubby has to get up at four a.m. three or four days a week, so the other days, I try to avoid waking him, when I can. On weekdays, the kids go to the sitter, who is a family friend, and I go to work. I work for a pediatrician and I’m the nurse parents are always threatening their kids with “if you aren’t good I’m gonna tell her to give you a shot.” I really hate that. It pisses me off. It’s mean….. Our family is more like the Addams Family….I tell my personal friends all the time when he and I were married, it was like the Cleavers (his family) marrying the Addams family

What are you most proud of as far as your accomplishments?

Truth? Well, this is gonna sound sappy but it’s not my writing, it’s my two kids. They amaze the hell out of me. After that, it’s No Longer Mine. My first complete book, well, first completed one that actually didn’t suck. After I finished, I looked back and read it, and was like wow, that’s not too bad.

Who has made the biggest impression on you in your life?

Are we talking good or bad? I think I’ll plead the fifth on this one.

What drew you to EC?

First the who-- Mary Janice Davidson. I was looking for more of her books. I fell in love her Secrets books and was on her site looking for more, more, more…and found out about EC. Once there, I found Angela Knight, who I had also read and adored from Secrets. Now the what—what can I say, I love sex. Hot, fast, wild hard sex. You can’t get that from category romances. Even the hotter ones like Blaze, which are getting better, don’t give you that.

EC says you started writing at 12 years old, which is very young. Is that when you decided you wanted to write to become an author?

Twelve is when I remember. My mom says younger…she says nine. She says I told her I was gonna be rich and famous and buy her a house with a red door…I don’t remember that.

Who do you admire the most author wise?

There are a lot of them. I read everything. From horror to sci-fi to romantica to fantasy to women’s fiction, oh jeez, the list goes on.
So this isn’t an easy question….hmmm, As far as romantica goes….Mary Janice, she always manages to throw humor in there and that’s not always easy. Angela Knight and Lora Leigh, they push the envelope so far it split wide open. I’ve recently picked up a critique partner, Heather Holland. I hadn’t ever planned on getting one, but she had something I wanted to read, we clicked and I love her. She has some ideas that are…unique. But the person I admire most is a science fiction writer, SL Viehl.

Who is your favorite author?

SL Viehl, Nora Roberts, Janet Evanovich and Mary Janice Davidson. I can’t pick just one. I could probably just far as to give ten, but ….

Do you only write books? Do you write poetry?

I write poetry. It’s probably bad poetry. But you didn’t ask that, did you?

Your writing is very diverse, why? I mean you don’t stick to a particular mold so to speak. Even if the mold works you move on to something else, why? Or are you just stretching your creative wings?

Ahhh, I get bored easily? I’m fickle? Actually I think it goes back to my reading habits. I read everything, so why not write everything. I write fantasy too. Straight fantasy, not erotic/romantica fantasy. I’ve just not done one lately that’s worth sending to anybody. I’ve got an idea for a horror book that I’m eventually gonna write and one for an alternate reality/urban fantasy story. Once those area done, I’m finding an agent and having them submitted to the big houses in NYC, because they are, well, good.

No Longer Mine is a contemporary book, Her Best Friends Lover, Whipped Cream and Handcuffs (WC & HC) along with Voyeur are romantica, and For the Love of Jazz is a romantic suspense. What makes you continuously change genres?

I wrote No Longer several years ago, before I even knew romantica existed. Same thing applies to For the Love of Jazz. Jazz was written last winter. I discovered Secrets books about three years ago, I guess. Last fall, I was looking for more info on when Mary Janice Davidson’s new Secrets anthology would be out. That’s when I discovered Ellora’s Cave, and romantica. And, oh, what a treasure trove that was. Around the time I discovered EC I had gotten a rejection from Harlequin...not what we’re looking for, try reading some more our books to see what we need…basically that is bullshit. My book was perfect for them. Problem? I’m an unknown, they don’t want to take chances on an unknown, they rarely do. EC is not only willing to do that, they want to. So it’s just changing genres, exacting, it’s adapting my writing to be what EC needs. I’d never heard the term romantica before Fall 2002.

Which genre do you enjoy writing the most?

That depends on which genre I’m currently writing, of course. Seriously….probably anything fantasy, either romance, romantica, or straight fantasy. With fantasy, you create that world. You make the rules. As long as you follow the rules, you’re cool. I can follow my own rules. In other genres, you have to follow other people’s rules. I don’t like that. Contemporary is good too. I usually stick with writing what I know, though, cuz research bores me. And I love vampires. And werewolves.

Level with me Shi, is hubby the inspiration of WC & HC? Is he Caleb and you Tessa or are those just your alter ego’s **wink wink**?

Actually, if you wanna know the truth, my editor put it together, Kye from Voyeur is based on my husband, his looks, his mannerism, his ahhh, sexual preferences. Whether or not I’m Ashlyn ….

I heard from a little birdie that WC & HC was based on your sex life?

Are you asking if I’ve indulged in unusual sex preferences?

What is Shiloh’s take on sexual toys and props?

Gimme, gimme wait…toys sound good. What do you mean by props.

How do you feel about handcuffs and three-somes?

Handcuffs = fun. Threesomes….My husband keeps teasing me about who I’d like to have a threesome with. What ever is he gonna do if I decide to take him up on it?

What inspired Voyeur? Was it an event or just a random thought that took on a life of its own?

My husband….he kept teasing me….about a threesome. And one night, the idea for a book came into play. But how the book turned out, well, that was the book, not me. And not anything the husband did or said. Books take on a life of their own, and I had no control.

In Voyeur who is Conner modeled after and can I get his phone number? LOL

Did you know Sean Connery has a son? His name is Jason, and he starred in a Robin Hood series about twenty years ago. I was only about six or so, but my mom taped them. And I’ve been watching them lately….yummy.
I dunno, do you think Sean Connery would give you his phone number? If so, let me talk to Sean for a minute. Just his voice is enough to give me an orgasm.

Was your hubby the inspiration and/or research for any of your books?

Physical, it’s not unusual for my heroes to be Native American. Wade in No Longer Mine is Native American. Kye from Voyeur is Native American. Jazz from For the Love of Jazz is Native American. Guess what my husband’s ethnicity is? Research….I get the feeling you are subtly asking about my sex life again

Your upcoming book Dragons Warrior, correct me if I am wrong but that is the conclusion of Voyeur, Kye seems to be set in a totally different time?

Kinda sorta…different realm. Not different time. Different realm.

Do you have any plans for it to become a series?

Maybe. I’m playing with the idea. Nothing concrete. And maybe not a series. But there were one or two characters who showed potential for a story.

Tell us a little about “The Hunters” your future vampire and werewolf book. Will that one become a series? Do you see a pattern here? LOL.

The Hunters is already a series. The Hunters: Tori and Declan is due out in October. The Hunters: Eli is due out in December, I think. There’s a third that’s done, but I can’t talk about that. If I do, I’d have to kill you…

Of all of the male characters in your books which one is your favorite?

Eilrah, the dragon. Oh wait. You wanted a human, or at least a hero, didn’t you? Hmmm, probably a toss up between Eli, the vamp you will meet in The Hunters: Tori and Declan and Blue, my seven foot blacker than midnight elf with wings, that you will meet in The Tale of the Blue Light. But I love Eilrah, my dragon. I really, really really love my dragon….

What does Shiloh Walker find romantic? What gets Shiloh juices flowing?

Now those are two different questions…. Romantic….Coming home to hear Enya playing, sorry, sounds sappy, I know, but damn it I love her, lights dim, table cloth, candle light, wine poured…a back massage, some dancing, slow sweet sex, followed later by some harder, not so sweet sex. All night long…hmmm. Did I mention my anniversary is soon? Now what gets my juices flowing…the above definitely will, but You’ve probably noticed from my books that I have no problems at all with a little rough play. If the husband were to come up to me right now, while I was sitting here, and pull me to my feet, back me up to the wall, and just take, no questions asked, no words spoken, some light force, …OMG….I think I need a cold shower…or better yet, can he come and listen to this?

Thank you for joining me today and allowing JERR and reviewers inside Shiloh Walker, is there anything specific that you would like to say to our reviewers?

You’re welcome. I'm going to try my first contest. And here is what I'm gonna do.... I want to know what people think of my excerpts and my writing. I know what the readers at the EC loops who post back think, but there are a lot of lurkers who don't answer back....it's okay...I lurk a lot, at a lot of boards due to my job during the week. I can't respond, except during the weekend. But in order to know if I'm doing a good job, y'all have to let me know what ya think.

Soooo.....in order to get a copy of Voyeur, which received a 5 Heart review at the Romance Studio, you have to read the excerpts, this link should take you there. excerpts. If not, cut and paste.... http://www.geocities.com/shilohwalker76/excerpts.html

After you read the excerpts, sign the guest book, and tell me which one you like. That's it. The contest runs until August 6. Or if Voyeur is released sooner, then it stops then and I will draw a winner from the people who signed the guest book. This is the only way to win, folks.

If you would like to learn more about Shiloh or read some of her books here is the link to help you get started.
